What I'm wondering is, what would be the lowest quality liquor I can get away with knowing that the flavors (lemon for example) are strong enough to cover up the "imperfections" in the liquor. $10 handles?

  1. We used the cheapest Vodka at the store when we make our holiday "Cranberry Liquor".  We make a bunch of it, and it's usually gone by New Year's day.  So, somebody must be drinking it. ;)  Seriously, though, you might have better results with higher quality vodka, but it's still pretty good even using the cheap stuff.  Maybe make a smaller sample batches using both options and see what you think.

Also, we make our stuff up a month in advance, and store it away so nobody drinks it.  We think it gets better if it ages just a little bit, maybe a few weeks.  I'm not sure if it's true, but that's what we do.  It might be better if it aged even longer, but we can never leave it alone for that long! haha. ;)
