Inge Dekker of Netherlands claimed gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on primary day of the 2012 Paris Open Swimming Championships on Friday, July 6.

With her laudable efforts, she stayed more than a body length ahead of her following swimmer and tapped the finishing end for gold medal with an effort of 58.37 seconds.
The champion remained 1.28 seconds ahead of Alexandra Wenk of Germany, who followed her on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 59.65 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Judit Ignacio of Spain and Silvia Di Pietro of Italy, who stayed almost half body length apart and ended their swims in a joint finish for bronze medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 00.19 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was secured by Justine Bruno of France, who hit the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 00.84 seconds.
Afterwards, the crowd witnessed gruelling efforts of Camille Lacourt of France in the Men’s 100m backstroke playoff. Lacourt remained considerably ahead of his strongest challenger from the start and made his way to the finishing wall with the timing of 54.89 seconds.
His gold winning effort remained 0.49 seconds faster from Benjamin Stasiulis of France, who settled on the victory stand for silver medal by clocking a time of 55.38 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Helge Meeuw of Germany, who remained 0.09 seconds apart and occupied the podium for bronze medal by submitting an effort of 55.47 seconds.

In addition, the championship is of considerable importance as it allows the international swimmers to race in their exclusive events just before the beginning of the 2012 London Olympics.
