Inge Dekker dominates Women’s 100m butterfly semi-final – Jose Finkel Trophy
Inge Dekker of FIAT/MINAS dominated the semi-final of the Women’s 100m butterfly on second day of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday, August 21.
Dekker demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the two-lap butterfly discipline and made her way into the final round as top contender for gold medal. With her epic pace, she remained considerably ahead of her strongest challenger and tapped the wall for
first position.
She enjoyed an advantage of half body length over her following swimmer and qualified into the playoff as top fastest swimmer with a timing of 58.73 seconds.
Afterwards, the audience witnessed gruelling efforts of Daiene Marcal Dias of BFR and Daynara Ferreira Paula of CRF/RJ, who involved each other in a stroke-to-stroke battle for second best qualification spot.
Both swimmers demonstrated their stupendous efforts in the 100m discipline but failed to surpass each other over the finishing end for second position. They remained 0.42 seconds slower form Dekker and hit the finishing wall with a same timing of 59.15 seconds
for second spot.
The duo was followed by Marieke Katherine Gueher of CRF/RJ, who stayed 0.31 seconds away from her former finisher and tapped the wall for fourth position with a timing of 59.46 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the discipline was secured by Bruna Caroline Lemos Rocha of ECP/SABESP, who was only 0.12 seconds apart and settled on the finishing wall with a timing of 59.58 seconds.
Subsequently, Rocha was followed by Fabiola Pulga Molina of FIAT/MINAS, who suffered a loss of only 0.01 seconds from her former finisher and clocked a time of 59.59 seconds for sixth position.
Molina was trailed by Daniele Paoli Jesus of ECP/SABESP, who stayed 0.36 seconds away from her preceding swimmer and posted a time of 59.95 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth best qualification spot of the event was followed by Dandara Mendes Antonio of FIAT/MINAS, who was 0.65 seconds behind and submitted a time of 1 minute and 00.60 seconds.
Dekker was delighted with her fastest qualifying effort in the playoff and said that she would try hard to win gold medal.
