Inge Dekker earns Women’s 100m butterfly gold – FINA Swimming World Cup, Tokyo
Inge Dekker of Netherlands earned gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on first day of the seventh stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, November 6.
Dekker showed no mercy to her opponents and met expectations of the aquatic crowd by securing gold medal of the 100m butterfly. With her invincible efforts in the butterfly discipline, she enjoyed a wonderful lead over her opponents and tapped the wall for
the crown.
With her gruelling efforts in the discipline, Dekker stayed a body length faster and reached the wall for the crown with a fantastic timing of 57.39 seconds.
The champion was followed by Sophie Allen of Great Britain, who stayed 0.85 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 58.24 seconds.
Allen was chased by Lan Liu of China, who stayed only 0.06 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall for third position by producing a time of 58.30 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was secured by Tomoyo Fukuda of Japan, who stayed just 0.13 seconds away from securing her spot on the podium and ended her race in a time of 58.43 seconds.
Subsequently, Fukuda was chased by Misuzu Yabu of Japan, who was only 0.20 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade as fifth position holder by touching the wall with a timing of 58.63 seconds.
Sixth spot of the event was obtained by Hiroko Sugino of Japan, who stayed half a body length slower and emerged on the finishing end by producing a time of 59.16 seconds.
Sugino was followed by compatriot, Rino Hosoda, who stayed just 0.21 seconds slower and completed her race in seventh place by touching the wall with an effort of 59.37 seconds.
Hosoda was chased by Ami Shimamura of Japan, who was 0.38 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 59.75 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, Dekker was delighted with her gold claiming effort and proclaimed that she would continue her hard work to excel at the upcoming swimming competitions.
