Inglorious to bypass Princess of Wales' Stakes as she prepares to run on dirt in Grade 1 Alabama
The Canadian-Bred Inglorious has broken through to win the last three races she participated in, including the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the Queen’s Plate Stakes, over a mile and 2 furlongs at Woodbine on 26 June, 2011.
Inglorious was the lone filly on the field that drew massive number of male horses, 16 to be exact, and she went on to defeat all the colts and geldings in that race to finish first.
The three-year-old bay filly will not be contesting for the crown this year as she plans to skip the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, Princess of Wales' Stakes and instead opted to take part in the Grade 1 Alabama at the Saratoga race course.
Donver Stable’s Inglorious ran among males for the first time and in the Queen’s Plate Stakes she didn‘t let any other male intimidate her of their presence neither she felt out of place, hence nailing a win despite all odds.
Trainer Josie Carroll decided not to gear up the filly for the second leg of the Canadian Triple Cup, rather aim at the Grade 1 Alabama at Saratoga on 20 August.
The daughter of Hennessy has had five races to run this season out of which she has won three, will be looking to raise her tally up to four at Saratoga.
The season started for Inglorious at Fair Grounds on 19 Feb, 2011, where she ran on a dirt track in the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes for fillies.
It was a hard fought race but she finished second, beaten by Kenneth McPeek’s Kathmanblu by 1 ¼ lengths.
Her second start was also at the Fair Grounds, on the field of 9 fillies Inglorious finished fourth 2 ¾ lengths behind the winner Daisy Devine when she ran on a dirt track in the Grade 2 Fair Ground Oaks on 26 March, 2011.
The change of scene brought new luck for the three year old filly and she was taken back to her homeland where she ran at the Woodbine on 15 May 2011, in the La Lorgnette Stakes.
Over a distance of 1 and half a furlong, Inglorious kept the pressure on 6 fillies behind her as she completed her first win of the season.
One came after the other and the next assignment was the Woodbine Oaks. Inglorious beat the favourite Spooky Kitten by ¾ of a length and went on to land her second in a row.
The third win was the third consecutive win of the 2011 season, and certainly the sweetest of them all. Josie Carroll’s Inglorious announced her arrival in the international scene when she won the prestigious Queen’s Plate Stakes.
The Grade 1 Alabama race is of prime focus as the daring filly gears up to finish the rest of the season on a high.
