Ingo Kindervater and Johannes Schottler win Men’s Doubles crown at Deutsche Meisterschaften 2012
Germany’s top shuttlers, Ingo Kindervater and Johannes Schottler, stamped their superior position in the country by winning the Men’s Doubles crown at Deutsche Meisterschaften 2012 on Sunday, February 5, in Germany.
In the title match, Kindervater and Schottler overwhelmed their lower ranked compatriots, Michael Fuchs and Oliver Roth, and cheered the home fans with their victory.
The World Number 16 Kindervater and Schottler, who were placed at the top in Men’s Doubles draw of the championship, employed all of their skills to chuck out Fuchs and Roth, who are currently World Number 24.
Kindervater and Schottler, who reached in the final after winning all of their matches in straight games, had to work hard against Fuchs and Roth, who were the second seeds in the tournament.
The top seeded pair managed to win the battle in three games by playing an attacking badminton for 52 minutes.
The start of the match was entertaining for the fans as both sides put up sensational show of aggressive badminton and remained close in the opening rallies.
However, Kindervater and Schottler managed to accelerate their speed and took advantage in the game by setting up a reasonable lead until the break in first game.
After the interval, Kindervater and Schottler stretched their lead by remaining focused in the game and won the set with a striking difference of 21-14 on the score board.
The home crowd could not have asked for better badminton as both pairs played top class game in the second set and they remained close until the ending points.
At this stage, Kindervater and Schottler committed a few unforced errors and lost the game with a tight margin of 20-22.
However, the deciding set was completely one-sided as Kindervater and Schottler geared up their speed from the opening rallies and took an early lead by putting pressure on their opponents.
The top seeds remained ahead of their rivals throughout the final set and ended it without facing any problem. They won the deciding game with a striking 21-12 score on the board.
Kindervater and Schottler emerged as the winners of this 52-minute final battle with a margin of 21-14, 20-22 and 21-12.
