Ingrid Petitjean and Nadege Douroux of France occupy top spot 2012 470 World Championship
After a superb sailing display on the Barcelona waters, the French 470 team comprising of Ingrid Petitjean and Nadege Douroux was able to clinch the top spot in the overall standings of the 2012 470 World Championship at the end of the fourth day proceedings.
The French team snatched the leading podium place from their compatriots Camille Lecointre and Mathilde Geron who kept the upper position for the first three days.
Meanwhile, the defending champions, New Zealand’s Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie also showed great determination and are currently on the second podium place with 27 points, just three points behind the regatta leaders, after taking part in eight races, which
include one discard race.
The weather conditions of the fourth day of regatta were quite strong in the beginning and the fleet had to wait for the winds to settle down at a moderate rate so that the participants can have a complete scheduled sailing.
Two races commenced today where Petitjean and Douroux finished on top with 24 points. The first race did not go well for them and they tumbled down at number 12 rank. However, a six place finish in the second race and a discard in the end brought them on
top of the fleet.
The Kiwi team, on the other hand, is eyeing to snatch the top spot. Currently they need a good finish on the fifth day proceedings which would definitely bring them to a strong position.
