Saw 2 Dr.'s one general medicine and one surgeon. gen med said it was inguinal hernia and sent me to a surgeon but said it was for consult to see if I needed it. The surgeon checked me and said he did not recommend surgery. Nothing's popping out just a slight pain in my right t******e that has since subsided. Surgeon suggested resting and only swimming for exercise for 2 months. Is that normal? can both docs be wrong? everywhere on line says you HAVE to get the surgery. Please help.

  1. You only need surgery if the intestines have entered through the inguinal canal. But since it didn't, that means you have the chance of re-strengthen your ligaments and muscles to properly close that canal without surgery. Follow the surgeon's advice, it's the same advice I would have given you too if you came into my office. Swim for a few months, that will help your ligaments and muscles.
