The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 midfielder has stressed that he is ready to sacrifice any personal accolade in order to see his national side achieve success.
As his team prepares for the final of the Euro 2012, Spain’s Andres Iniesta has expressed that he prefers silverware for his country instead of earning the Player of the Tournament award for himself.
Being rated as one of the best performers throughout this year’s European Championship, there is a possibility that the Barca number 8 may land the coveted award. However, he has maintained that the individual trophy is in no way a preference.
In Iniesta’s competition is Italy’s Andrea Pirlo, who is without a doubt one of the best players in the Euro 2012.
The Italian has not let his age stop him from giving one of the best performances of his life.
One has to point out that the Azzurri’s path to the final of the Euro was far from easy, however, their resilience has helped them book a place in the most important match of the prestigious tournament and Pirlo’s contribution in this cannot be undermined.
In the same way, Iniesta has stood up as La Roja’s midfield maestro once again, proving that his skill and technical ability is unmatched.
With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045 assisting the World Cup winner, Iniesta has managed to do almost everything that can be expected of him.
Given his tremendous exploits in the Euro, many have tipped him as favourite to become the winner of the Player of Tournament award.
While talking to reporters, the 28-year-old was quoted as saying:
"I've never thought about playing for personal credit. I do not think I am the most valuable player. I feel that what will make me happy is to lift the trophy. In football everything is relative - it does not matter who stars and who does not.”
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Marchisio-c9312 has had a good tournament, Pirlo also. I do not know who the MVP should be and I really do not care."
