Barcelona played against the Premier League side, Chelsea, in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg.
The Catalan giants were favourites to qualify for the final of the European competition; however, with a 1-0 defeat against the Blues, the semi-final tie has become more interesting.
Barcelona will be facing a stern test in the shape of Real Madrid on Saturday and with the return leg scheduled to take place next week, it is going to be a tough week ahead for the Spanish champions.
During the game which took place at the Stamford Bridge, Barcelona created a number of goal-scoring opportunities, but they failed to capitalize and later regretted their failure in front of goal.
Spanish midfielder, Andres Iniesta, came out in the open to express his views regarding the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and claimed that the reason why Barcelona lost the game was due to the fact that they could not score when it was needed.
During the first half, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 could only find the crossbar.
Later, Barcelona created more opportunities to find the all-important away goal but it seemed as if they were simply out of luck, and they couldn’t really find the back of the net.
While speaking about the missed chances and how Chelsea took advantage of what they created, Andres Iniesta said:
"We knew that Chelsea always profit from the chances they create. They had a few and we weren't good enough to finish ours.“
"There's still the return leg to be played and we expect something similar to this one: they will put many men behind the ball.
"They defend quite well but we will be in our home with our people and that's always a big plus."
Barcelona will face Chelsea next Tuesday in the Champions League semi-final second leg at the Nou Camp. However, the Catalan giants will be facing a tough task in the shape of Real Madrid as the two Spanish giants collide over the weekend, on April 21, 2012.
