The Spanish international has asserted that he is not letting Bracelona's lead over Real Madrid excite him too much, claiming there is
still much to play for in La Liga.
Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta is looking forward to the rest of the season without overconfidence, believing that there is a long way to go into the season. The midfielder spoke particularly in regard of the advantage that La Blaugrana have over the current
Spanish champions.
At the moment, the Camp Nou based entity is at the top of the Spanish Primera Division’s league standings. Additionally, the Catalan giants have an 8-point advantage over fierce foes, Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho’s men find themselves far below the Nou Camp outfit as start to 2012/13 La Liga season has been disappointing for them. Los Blancos have already dropped 10 points in the league campaign.
On the other hand, Barca have only dropped 2 points, managing to scrape wins in all of their league fixtures except for one, El Clasico.
Nevertheless, Iniesta insisted that the Catalans cannot afford to be complacent as it is only the beginning of the season. The Spaniard believes that being the current reigning champions of the Liga BBVA, Los Blancos will try their best to make a comeback
and La Azulgrana should be ready for it.
While talking to reporters, the 28-year-old was quoted as saying:
"There's still a long way to go. I don't know of any team that doesn't play to win, and much less Real Madrid, who is the current league champion and will want to hang on to the title. Let's not kid ourselves about the gap over Madrid."
The midfield maestro also commented on his current form with the team and stated that he is in good shape at the moment.
"I haven't played any full games with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 yet but I'm in great shape, I feel good. The injury is behind me. The game against Depor will be tough though, as it always is after internationals," he added.
