Inigo Cervantes-Huegun crushes Danai Udomchoke in 2nd round – Beijing International Challengers 2011
Inigo Cervantes-Huegun of Spain thrashed out Thai tennis pro Danai Udomchoke 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday to advance into the third round of 2011 Beijing International Challengers tournament here in Beijing, China.
Inigo Cervantes-Huegun looked in stunning form in his third round match at the hard courts tournament and he took one hour and three minutes dispatching the rival in his for his straight sets victory. Udomchoke also had a great
start to the match as he played his shots to perfection early on. However, as the match progressed, the shine faded away as he let his opponent take a comfortable win.
Cervantes-Huegun made a shaky start to the match as he struggled to get to his opponent’s ferocious forehand and backhand winners early in the opening set. After the 21-year-old suffered a break of serve, he trailed 2-0 in the
game score. Lifting his spirits, Chen regrouped himself and paid more attention to the surroundings. Breaking back in fourth game of the set, he levelled the game score at 2-2. Converting his second break chance of the set, the Chinese Taipei earned a tricky
4-2 lead. Ranked 407th in the world, Cervantes-Huegun claimed four straight games to lead the set score 1-0 within first half an hour of the match.
The second set also followed a similar trend as Cervantes-Huegun was able to get the better of his opponent whenever the contestants played for crucial points. His supreme on-court agility combined with his hard-hitting techniques
proved to be the decisive factor in his victory. Breaking his opponent in seventh game of the set, he took 5-2 lead, needing a game to close out the match. Gong fought hard but he failed to stop Cervantes-Huegun from earning a well deserved win.
Hitting a decent 48 percent first serve, Cervantes-Huegun took control of points on his serve and then placed his gorgeous forehand and backhand shots at will. Making the most of the available opportunities, he converted three
out of three break points in the match.
Udomchoke failed to handle the pressure as he failed to convert any of the five break points her had in the match. He will be hoping to learn from his mistakes and come back strongly on his next ATP appearance.
