Inish Island to break free of the maiden in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle
Collected for giving their hurdling ability a chance are eight five-year-old and above contenders for the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle. They will race over two miles, six furlongs and 110 yards on 14th November, 2012 at Downpatrick. The total prize money set for the race is €7,590. For many in the line-up, this will not be the first time that they will attempt a maiden hurdle.
Short listed with the highest of the possibility to land the race is the six-year-old chestnut gelding, Inish Island. He joined the racing career in 2010 and has not won ever since the seasonal debut of the 2011 season.
The only race that the Irish chestnut gelding has ever won is the Fethard INH Flat Race on 8th December, 2011 at Clonmel race course over two miles and half a furlong.
He won by a mere head’s mark while riding with jockey, Mr. R. P. McNamara, and defeated the favourite entry, Crocus Bay, to the second position.
Trans Island’s gelding failed to maintain the winning form and to date has no more winning posts on his profile. However, his experience at maiden hurdles might come handy today, giving him the option to break clear. He has been giving the maiden a try since the last four outings.
The W. P. Mullins trained ended third in the Signsplus 5YO Maiden Hurdle on 26th December, 2011 at Limerick over two miles and three furlongs.
The race was won by the favourite entry, Murchu.
Inish Island remained at the same ranking in the 2012 seasonal debut. The six-year-old out of, Ish, ended third in the Four Star Langton House Hotel Maiden Hurdle on 26th January, 2012 at Gowran Park over two miles.
The John Fielding bred then lost the chance by three places in the Nobber Maiden Hurdle on 3rd March, 2012 at Navan race course over two miles.
The six-year-old had his most recent attempt in the Goresbridge maiden Hurdle on 24th March, 2012 at Gowran Park over two miles and a furlong.
Inish Island has all the chances of landing the race with the guidance of jockey, Paul Townend.
