Initial one-year guarantee (HDTV)?

Hi guys,

I'm after a 32" tv but the place i'm buying from wants an extra £86 for a 3 year extended service plan. I'm curious as to whether i still get a (free) one-year guarantee even if i don't pay extra?

It's a Philips "32PFL5522D" 32ins HD if it helps.

Thanks in advance.

Chris.

  1. The BEST way to answer this is to find out when the contract expires.....

Some 3 year contracts START when you buy it, and SOME actually do add 3 years to the manufacturer's contract...

So the choice of whether to buy it or not depends on the information the contract provides to the buyer....

Look at their contract before purchasing it, make sure it covers what you want it to, and I can tell you this....It does NOT cover abuse, damage or modifications by the customer.

So it won't cover cracked LCD panels.....

  2. Hi Chris yes you do get a total of 4 years -

one year manufacturers + 3 year extended warranty

ive worked in a service centre in australia with all major brand repairs, most plasma's & lcds last 2/3 years before faulting (or less), causing incovenience of timely repairs. if parts become obsolete then usually a  store credit is given to the value of the tv.

    take care
