Injured Andy Carroll sent to Sweden
According to recent reports, Newcastle United talismanic striker Andy Carroll has been sent to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 to consult a specialist regarding his injury.
Andy Carroll, who has already scored 11 Premier League goals this season for the Magpies, has missed Newcastle’s last five games due to a thigh injury.
The English striker was also sent to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 for rehabilitation process and was expected to return by the start of February. Carroll has been very impressive for Newcastle in the first half of the season.
However, Newcastle Manager Alan Pardew confirmed that Andy Carroll will not be part of the Magpies’ squad against Fulham, which will be played on February 2nd, 2011. Furthermore, Pardew also said that the 22-year-old striker is being sent to Sweden
to meet a renowned specialist to get to the root of his injury.
The Manager said, “We brought him to Portugal to start running and the disappointing news is that he hasn't. His injury is in the muscle just above the tendon where it joins the knee, so it's not an area that gets great circulation, so therefore it doesn't
heal quickly. We have had a consultation
The striker was also sent to Dubai earlier this month in the hope that the warm Middle East weather will speed up his recovery.
Alan further stated, “You get these experts in different fields and this guy is in the Arctic end of Sweden and he is flying out there on Friday, and we are hoping that we can turn him around quickly. But now I have to say that Fulham is definitely out and
maybe even Arsenal.”
However, even in Carroll’s absence, Newcastle managed to stay in the top half of the points table; thanks to the likes of Leon Best, Nile Ranger and Shola Amaeobi, who all have managed to find the net in last five weeks. But, Alan Pardew insists that he
wants Andy Carroll to return in near future, as the Magpies are bidding to survive in the Barclays Premier League.
