Injured Brownlie likely to miss remainder of the home series against Zimbabwe

The 27-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 in Dunedin last week, sustained an injury on his right hand while fielding in the second One Day International of
the series at Whangarei on Monday, February 6, 2012. Later, an X-ray of the injured hand revealed a fracture on his finger and is likely to miss the ensuing games of the series.
Brownlie’s injury has also been confirmed by the New Zealand physiotherapist, Dr. Paul Close.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-c53369 complained of soreness with the hand becoming more painful and swollen today," said Close adding, "An x-ray this evening confirmed a fracture.”
Asked about the expected recovery time, Close said that it is premature to say anything in this regard, adding that the Western Australia-born batsman would soon see an orthopaedic surgeon for an opinion, and a recovery plan would
be drawn up after that.
"He is expected to miss the remainder of the Zimbabwe series but it's a bit early to tell how long he will be out,” said the Kiwi physio. “His return to cricket will be based on how quickly the fracture http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Heal-c882 and we should have clearer
idea of the timeframe and best course of treatment after he meets with the orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow," he added further.
No decision has yet been made on a replacement for the injured middle order batsman. Brownlie made his Test debut in November last year against the same opposition but away from home. To date, he has played four Tests and averages
44.66.
Having won the opening two games quite comprehensively, the hosts have already gained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The third and the last One Day International of the series will be played at Napier on Thursday,
February 9, 2012.
The ODI series will be followed by two T20 Internationals before the Kiwis host a formidable South African side for three Tests and an equal number of ODIs and T20 Internationals.
