Question:

Injured Dove, Please Help!?

My ringneck dove looks like its been attacked. The feathers on its head look like they've been pulled out or something and its bleeding there. I don't know how this could've happened. I feel so sorry for it. How should it be treated?

  1. If your Dove is injured, take it your local vet for an extensive medical evaluation.


  2. He should be seen immediately by an avian vet.  If he's been attacked he may well have been bitten as well.  If he was bitten by a dog or cat, they carry the pasteurella bacteria which is fatal to birds without treatment.
