Injured James Anderson will be fit for the Ashes says ECB
English fast bowler James Anderson, who has been in brilliant form in the past few months, would be fit for the Ashes despite suffering from a cracked rib, the England and Wales Cricket Board said earlier today. The 28-year-old fast bowler sustained the injury during England’s preparation camp in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Germany-c2904. According to the ECB, this injury scare will not hamper his strict training schedule ahead of the Ashes Series in Australia. In the statement released by the PCB, they have said that Anderson will be fit in time to play the first Test against Australia in Brisbane.
The trip to Germany was a group exercise for the team, and the ECB has said that it was basically a team bonding trip, which included hiking, abseiling, boxing and a trip to the Dachau concentration camp. England is preparing to play a tour match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 on 5th November before the first Test on the 25th of November.
This year, Anderson has been in phenomenal form and his statistics speak volumes of his true potential. In only 8 matches played this year, he has managed to take 40 wickets at an average of 20.27 and a brilliant economy rate as well. Not only has he been economical but he has greatly matured as a bowler over the years and his improving bowling average is a testament to that fact.
Together with Tremlett and Swann, they could really attack the Australian batsmen, with the Australian team suffering after a string of defeats, earlier at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in India. Ponting’s captaincy and tactics are now under heavy scrutiny and this could certainly undermine Australian efforts to intimidate the Englishmen ahead of the ashes.
However, he averages a disappointing 56 against Australia and therefore it remains to be seen if he will be able to find his form against the Australians, or if they would be able to get the better of him with the advantage of home ground on their side.
