Injured Lotus Renault GP driver Robert Kubica to go through another surgery – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP’s Robert Kubica recently went through a terrible accident during a rally event this past weekend. The Polish driver might not be able to race in Formula 1 ever again since his right hand was injured badly as a result of the accident.
Robert had to go through a major surgery and the doctors are not sure whether he would be able to race ever again since the nerves in his right hand have been damaged vitally which would affect his reflexes a lot.
“The levels of inflammation are in the norm considering his medical condition, and the recovery of his forearm remains encouraging,” Lotus Renault GP said in an e-mailed statement.
It was recently revealed that the Pole will have to go through another surgery in order to ensure that he recovers properly. Robert was finally able to talk to his team this morning and the team revealed that he is going to fight for his comeback.
“On Thursday, Robert should undergo some more surgery in order to stabilize the fractures to his right shoulder and right foot. Three or four days later, another operation will allow his elbow fracture to be stabilized as well,” the team said.
He will not be able to participate in the 2011 Formula 1 season for sure and it seems that a full season drive at Renault is now up for the grabs.
It is believed that the team might not go with either of its reserve drivers and according to some rumours, Nico Hulkenberg and Tonio Liuzzi are trying their best to take that spot at Renault.
However, performing up to the team’s expectations and replacing a driver like Robert Kubica is not going to be easy. Robert finished in 8th place in the drivers’ standings in the 2010 Formula 1 season after scoring 3
podium positions in an average Renault.
