Injured Paula Creamer’s superb victory

Paula Creamer was badly injured few months ago. Her left thumb injury and pain prevented her thoughts from playing golf again. She couldn’t have expected to perform in this manner. Creamer achieved the best women’s Open title by 4 shots. Her success couldn't go with her self-confidence or control. Creamer initiated with a lead of 3 strokes and kept her momentum in 2 under 69 that awarded her a 3 under 281 for the tournament. Creamer’s thumb was bandaged while facing post-tournament news forum. Creamer said, one question was always waiting for her, “How come you indeed not won a major?” now I won’t have to listen such questions again in press conferences. It is a sort of relief for her shoulders. However her left injured thumb is only 60% recovered.

To lower down the throbbing on a surgically repaired thumb he just practiced forty shots prior to each round. She took limited number of strokes in order to minimize the discomfort. Creamer because of her typical pink clothing is known as the pink panther but she faded this colour during previous two Women’s Opens. In earlier rounds she was quite strong at Oakmont.

Her thumb was punished with 52 holes playing in last two days. Friday heavy raining was beneficial in slowing down course greens and to create better scores. Creamer said that she was feeling much pain but she tried her best to divert her thinking to manage it with a positive state of mind. Creamer’s two terrific shots of the day which turned the match were Number 7 and 8 putts, par-savings. Although Choi played the second best round of the tournament and Song-Hee Kim was also prominent on Sunday with 13th finished carrying 65. She wasn’t quite sure about her point scores and she never put a glance on leader board until the 18th. She played splendid shots in that green course and amazed all viewers.

At the conclusion of LPGA Championship final went to Cristie Kerr by 12 shots with her perfect dominance and right after two weeks Creamer won with her strength of mind. Creamer is satisfied from her current performance for which she practiced hard for last couple of months. She also had bad experience of life to attend Masters as a viewer. Now she is feeling much mature due to learning from hardships and her determination.

As a result of surgery some mechanical changes were also observed in her game. Creamer’s started playing stronger from the right side as compared to the left hand performance. She forcefully played 29 holes Saturday but panicked to un-wrap her pounding thumb. Creamer thumb injury originally occurred last year and got worse during Thailand tournament which was the main obstacle to regain her form. At the age of 21 she was declared eight times LPGA winner. She wasn’t actually expecting that title. She closely watched the 2007 U.S Open Championship which was won by Angel Cabrera superbly. The useful lesson she learn from this DVD was about pin placement which were placed on Saturday same as three years ago. Among other contestants of the tournament Creamers showed humbleness on her U-turn achievement in U.S women’s opens.

World number one player Jiyai Shin, Yang and Lang the first round leader attempted for 5th at 286, one followed Kyung Kim of South Africa. One of the world best golf players, Kerr strived to gain successive birdies on Number 2 and Number 3 but all in vain and tied for 17th at the end. 15 year old Alexis Thompson is a Floridian who is considered as the next potential golf star. In spite of some wrong putting she attempted for tenth in her fourth Women’s Open. Pettersen said, “Thompson is the best 15 year old golf player I ever saw”.

Prior to the final round Choi was just seven back but she couldn’t successful in preventing major comeback in tournament history. Choi said that she focused on delivering hundred percent confident shots rather than winning the title. In the previous 15 majors, Creamer is the 12th unparallel winner. Before Kerr success in LPGA and Creamer victory in the Women Open, USA was just holding eight out of the 39 previous majors.
