Injured Renault driver Robert Kubica says difficult to predict time of return – Formula 1 news
Injured Renault driver Robert Kubica has said that it is difficult for him to predict the timing of his return to Formula 1 sport at the moment, as he has not fully recovered from the injuries that he sustained in a rally crash back in February 2011.
There were rumours about Kubica that he could take part in the 2011 Brazilian Grand Prix. However, the Polish driver has downplayed this speculation and stated that he cannot make any decision of his return in the sport at the moment, as he is still in a
process of recovery.
The 26-year-old driver said, “I like to have a goal when it's a reasonable one. We'll see how the next few months ago in terms of the rehabilitation process evolution and then we'll take a decision in due time. What is important is that I know that my team
is keeping my seat for whenever I need it.”
He went on to add, “It is difficult to predict the timing of a process that is also dependent to the 'rules of nature'. But the good news is that my recovery is consistent and sooner or later I will feel sufficiently fit to be able to put a date on when
I'll be back.”
The Renault driver told the media that he is looking forward to participate in the 2012 Formula 1 season, as he believes he will completely recover from injuries before the start of the next season.
On the other hand, the team boss Eric Boullier has said that Renault’s R31 car is waiting for Kubica for the rest of the ongoing season. Boullier added that the team wants him for the upcoming races, as they believe he can show better performance for them.
The Enstone-based outfit recently announced that the team’s current driver Nick Heidfeld will have to leave his race seat for Kubica, when he makes a return.
