Injured Renault driver Robert Kubica says he will be back after full recovery – Formula 1 news
Injured Renault driver Robert Kubica has said that he will come back to Formula 1 when he fully recovers from the injuries that he sustained in the horrific rally accident back in February 2011.
Kubica talked to the reporters and revealed that he is making good progress in terms of his recovery from the injuries.
The Polish driver stated that he is physically not good enough and still feels a bit weak. He further informed that his general condition is better than before, as he is recovering from the injuries quickly.
The 26-year-old driver said, “My weight has now returned to its normal level and for a few weeks I've been able to walk without help. I am satisfied with how things are proceeding. The improvement is in line with the expectations, and luckily there are no
complications that could affect the recovery time.”
He went on to mention, “I don't have any memory of the accident, I am just aware of the consequences it had. So, to me, it's as if it never happened. In reality I don't see why [it should affect me], because I think I will be back exactly the way I was.”
The Renault team added that according to Kubica he is feeling pretty well overall. However, he could be expected to take part in the Brazilian GP, as there were rumours linking him with a possible return at the 2011 season’s last grand prix.
Kubica responded to these rumours and said that it is too early to take a decision about the 2011 Brazilian Grand Prix, because he has still not fully recovered from the injuries.
On the other hand, Renault boss Eric Boullier insisted that Kubica will be on the Formula 1 grid as soon as he recovers. In addition, he said that his R31 car is waiting for him for the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The current drivers’ line-up of Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld is performing well for Renault. Let’s see if Kubica makes a return to Formula 1 this season or in the next 2012 season.
