Injured Richie Myler to miss out on start of Super League season
Warrington Wolves' scrum-half Richie Myler will sit out the beginning of the Super League season because he had sustained an elbow injury during his side’s 32-18 win at the Boxing Day exhibition game in Halliwell Jones Stadium against Widnes Vikings.
In lieu of the injury he picked up, the Wolves’ player left the field badly wounded in an attempt to hold back a try from getting scored by the opposition.
While talking about his departure, Wolves’ coach Tony Smith, added, “Richard was taken to hospital to see if his elbow could be put back in place and for checks on any additional damage. It's a significant injury and one that's come at a bad time. He's been
training exceptionally well and he was definitely keyed up for a big start to the season. But he may just have to delay that a little bit - it's a blow for him.”
According to the version shared by Wolves’ coach, the player had been part of the rigorous training ahead of the next Super League season. This is a major setback for the player who had been training hard to play his ultimate best to cement his brilliance
in the pre-season of the Super League games in 2012.
With all this happening, the player will no longer participate in the English tour to Australia. It cannot be determined right now that for how long the player will remain out of the playing field. The tour to the land down under will stretch over a span
of three weeks, which will conclude with clash against the South Sydney.
During his stay at the club, which started in 2010, the player was part of a total of 51 games, where he ran in a total of 38 tries along with 2 goals to his name. He earned a total of 156 points with Wolves and is considered one of their star players.
Previously, the English scrum-half was playing for the Salford City Reds from 2008 to 2009, where he played a total of the 53 games and earned 172 points.
It will be interesting to see how well the Wolves will be able to adjust to the untimely exclusion of the player. Hopefully, he will recover speedily from his injury to be part of the left over Super League season 2012.
