Injured England off-spinner Graeme Swann has expressed optimism about his participation in the upcoming World Cup, hoping he will be fit for the mega cricketing event commencing 19 February.
Following a severe back spasm, the spinner left http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 for his country in the middle of the ongoing ODI series against the Aussies. Swann already was recovering from a knee injury that sidelined him from the play on January 16.
Reports quoted Swann as saying, “I’ve had a bad back for years and, every now and again, it gives me problems. But I know from previous experience that I'll definitely be fine for the World Cup from the start.”
The spinner will join his wife http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on 22 February, two days before England’s first one-dayer of the World Cup against Holland in Nagpur.
The bowler, currently number two in the ICC Test ranking, will not feature in England’s warm-up matches.
"It's been a long tour away and it's taking its toll on a number of players. I'm not worried about the back. The first time it happened in my career, I was frantic. But it doesn't feel as bad as it did then," reports quoted him.
England have been battling with injuries ahead of the World Cup. Pacer Tim Bresnan has a torn calf muscle. All-rounder Stuart Broad has a torn stomach muscle.
England’s coach Andy Flower cites tougher training and high-intensity international cricket as a possible cause of injuries.
