Injured US player Stacy Sykora recovering well – Volleyball news
It has been a week now that the libero of U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team, Stacy Sykora got injured in a bus accident.
The American player was playing in a local Brazilian volleyball club, in order to stay competitive for the regular season. The 33-year old along with her Brazilian teammates was headed to a tournament in a different city. Unfortunately, the storm hit that
particular area and caused the bus crash. The Olympian star, Stacy fell victim to a head-injury.
She was immediately hospitalised, where the doctors gave her a quick treatment. Reportedly, her brain started swelling but the doctors put her in the coma and controlled her movements.
Stacy’s mother, Sherian Richards and her sister travelled to the Brazilian city Sao Paolo on Monday. They are staying with Stacy and looking after her.
In the meantime, Ms. Richards updated about the latest condition of Stacy via text messages. She stated, “The doctors are very optimistic, saying her improvement is far beyond what it normally is under the same circumstances.”
She further updated, “There's still hills to climb, but Stacy is a stepper. She has made me very proud the last couple of days with all her accomplishments. Her sister and I are very relieved.”
It is indeed great news that Stacy is on her way to fast recovery. She has showed marked improvement in the last couple of days. She is eating solid food and has started taking walks. Her mother and sister are keeping her company, while the Brazilian Volleyball
Federation and USA Volleyball are staying in touch with her. She has been offered the best treatment and great support from her teammates and others.
Stacy Sykora is one of the most talented and decorated volleyball players. She plays at the position of libero and is known for her extra-ordinary skills. She was part of the American National squad, which settled for silver-ware at the 2008 Beijing Summer
Olympics. The American team has high hopes that Stacy will play a great role in the upcoming international competitions.
