Injured Vince Carter out of Dallas Mavericks game against Los Angeles Clippers - NBA Update
Monday night turned out to be a disappointing one for the reigning NBA champions Dallas Mavericks.
Not only because they lost a close game to Los Angeles Lakers, but because of the fact that their shooting guard Vince Carter injured his foot, and will now be missing the Mavs next outing against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night and probably
few more games as well.
Carter hurt his foot in trying to attempt a game-tying 3, which unfortunately missed the basket and led to Mavericks loss.
According to him, the moment his foot landed, he knew he was in trouble. X rays were done immediately after the game ended and fortunately for the team, he didn’t dislocate any bone.
This is a significant blow for the Mavs as next few games are important for them and Vince’s absence would be dearly felt. Team is monitoring his injury closely and although he is missing out the next game for sure, final decision to include him in the line-up
in the games after that will be done depending on level of recovery.
"It's a loss, a significant loss for us right now," He's doing a little better today, but other than that he's not expected to play tomorrow," Coach Rick Carlisle said. "We'll see how this thing goes the next day or so and we'll make a decision on whether
to keep him here or not."
Vince will be turning 35 soon and therefore he needs to be employed very carefully by the team as one serious injury now can end his career- definitely what Mavericks don’t want at the moment.
Vince, who started his career with Toronto Raptors in 1998-99 season, is one of the elite players in the league. Although he has lost his rhythm a bit in recent years due to age and injury, he still has a healthy average of 22.2 points per game.
He was acquired by the Mavericks at the start of this season in order to add some experience and to strengthen the post play of the team. He has not yet fired on all cylinders yet and is averaging 9.5 points per game at the moment but a player of his class
just needs a single game to get back in momentum, which is what the Mavs are counting on.
