Injured ankle not an issue for St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford – NFL News
St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford had earlier said that he was unable to get rid of his ankle injury that had been bothering him since the last season, but the player had also maintained that the injury did not create any problem for him this offseason.
Bradford has reiterated that stance, saying that despite having the injury he is good to go. During an appearance on "NFL AM", Bradford said of his ankle injury:
"It's good enough to go right now. It really hasn't caused me to miss any reps in training camp. So we're dealing with it (the) best we can, and it really hasn't been an issue so far."
The ankle injury forced the quarterback out of many games in the last season in which his performance was below par. After having a great rookie season in 2010, Bradford was expected to do even better in the 2011 season, but he could not live up to the expectations
and missed a lot of games as well.
However, Bradford has been able to actively take part in the offseason activities, which reflects that the injury is not bothering him. That being said, the fact cannot be overruled that the injury is nevertheless there.
Meanwhile, Bradford also shared his views regarding the Rams’ offensive system. Rams have hired a new offensive coordinator this year. Brian Schottenheimer is the third offensive coordinator Bradford is going to work with. Although Bradford has good understanding
of how things are managed at Rams, he needs to get familiar with Schottenheimer’s scheme.
Bradford said:
“It's all about learning to speak the language that Schotty speaks, getting on the same page with our offensive linemen and making sure that we're good in protection and that I understand the protection calls. That they understand what I'm looking for and
to make changes, and that way we're all on the same page.”
Rams’ performance in the last season was very poor as they were able to win only two out of their 16 games. They are going to start their preseason campaign against the Indianapolis Colts, who also had a substandard season and were also able to win only
two games.
