  1. Do not feed it unless you know what to feed it.  Is it a baby? That makes a huge difference.  Please put it in a container and cover . Keep the bird warm and quiet so it can remain calm.  You need to contact a wildlife rehabber in your area or even a vet.  Do not give milk, birds are lactose intolerant, Never feed worms they can cause gapeworm, never put liquid in its mouth it could cause aspiration pneumonia and it will die, Do not feed bread, hamburger, nuts, seeds through handfeeding.  Does the bird eat on its own?  If not then feed with the end of a stir stick or a straw cut to a spoon shape, like a slurpee straw. Soak dry dog food in water and then mush it to the consistency of oatmeal. This is not well balanced for being a permanent diet. The recipe can be found at starling talk.

  2. Get this bird to a wildlife rehab..if it is injured..they can get it the medical care it needs and get it released back into the wild if at all possible.  It is also illegal for you to be caring for this bird on your own and if you have been feeding it ONLY biscuits and milk it will soon be dead of starvation..surprised it is still alive now actually.  Please look here for a rehab near you:

  3. Is it a baby?  If so, sometimes the parents kick it out in order to raise the others, especially if it was smaller.  Another thing is that sometimes the parents kick it out along with the others and they stay on the ground for a few days learning to fly under the watchful eyes of the parents.  It may look young, but if it has feathers then it may be ready to learn to fly.  If it is hairless then there could be another reason why it was on the ground.  Returning it to the nest, if you know where it belongs, may be the best option since most baby birds found this way dont survive.

You say it was injured, does it have any visible signs of injury? It could have fallen from its nest and you should try to locate the nest. Contrary to belief, they will take the babies back after you touch it, unless there was a specific reason for kicking it out, such as sick.

If you do choose to raise it, good luck.  They have specific baby bird food at pet stores.

We raised a baby bird last year from this and seemed to work great.  We then found the nest and put him back and the parents took him and continued to raise him.

I also contacted a local bird sanctuary, in case I couldn't raise him properly.

  4. If its beak is round like a parrot, it likes nuts and hard food. If its beak is pointy, it likes bugs and worms....the pointy beak is for digging into the soil/ground to find bugs. Thats probably what it is. Try bugs...cuz they cant hurt it if they're in the same place you found the bird in. You could also call a humane society or some animal shelter. They will come and take it into special care and let it go when it's ready and healed. We found baby racoons once and did the same exact thing. Hope this helps!

  5. feed it seeds and nuts and what farmers give to birds/chicks on farms, relax your fine, its not that bad, i would do scientific experiments on it!
