Injured knee question?

i have to have an operation to repair the meniscus (cartilage in knee)...i am wanting to do swimming squad training in october and my knee is being operated on at the end of september...will i be ready to go back to swimming that soon?? will there be any chance of infection where the arthrosope was???

please help!

  1. There is a high chance that you wont be ready that fast. I had a surgery to take out cartilage in my knee (The doctor told me it would heal faster than repairing it, so that is what i chose) but it still took way longer than expected. It probably depends on the person and how much damage was actually done but no one can heal at the same rate.. I'd say that less than a month is probably just too short amount a time.

    I'm sure there is a chance of infection but it probably unlikely.


  2. You should be able to go back to training in october.  Yes, there is a chance for an infection as with any surgery, but it is VERY unlikely.  I  have had three  knee surgery.  One which was just a meniscus repair, and I was almost back to full recovery in a week.
