He cannot walk, stand or fly. His neck is fine but if he gets to worked up he will end up on his back and cannot get back upright. He seems to have one leg he favors and can push himself along with one leg. He slept thru the night in our spare room and I've got him safe right now, but does anyone have any suggestions. Its just a regular ol' bird, nothing fancy, but still - it broke my heart. Anyone want three barn cats. I'm ready to get rid of them!!!!!

  1. I personally think that this bird will not make it.  I raise white doves as a hobby and when a bird cannot walk, stand or fly its days are numbered---sorry to break the news to you like this but I believe in being honest.

I know it sounds cruel but cats are biologically engineered to kill and consume birds.  In this case, the cats were responding to their natural instincts so you should just have let nature take its course.  The only way I know to prevent this in the future is to reduce your number of cats or keep them very very well fed.

    Good luck!

  2. CATS KILL BIRDS

  3. I hit a seagull with my car one time and injured him but did not kill him. He was sitting on the side of the road watching the traffic. I didn't have the heart to leave him there so I picked him up and brought him in my car to the SPCA. They did accept him but made no promises as to him living or not. They took him to the vet to see if they could do anything but I'm sure he was hurt pretty bad. The only other option would be to find a place that could rehabilitate him depending on what kind of bird he is. Good luck and I'm glad you didn't just leave him there!

  4. take him to the vet before you get sick it can get sick very easily

  5. you should have left it, you may catch bird flu or get lice now

  6. This bird will die soon without antibiotic treatment from a wildlife rehab.  Cats carry a lot of bacteria in their saliva that results in infection quickly.  Look here for one near you:
