Injuries continue ravaging Panthers as line backer Charles Johnson undergoes MRI scan – NFL News
The continuous increase in the number of injured players is badly tormenting Carolina Panthers with most players missing. With a record 12 players on injured reserve poor Panthers cannot find any way out of their injury woes while they continue to lose games with a 2-8 record to sit bottom of the National Football Conference South.
The latest injury scare for Panthers is Defensive End Charles Johnson who has underwent an MRI scan according to Coach Ron Rivera on his shoulder after taking a hit during Panthers 49-35 loss against Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Panthers will be hoping that Johnson comes out of the scan unscathed and will be ready for the next game as the franchise cannot afford any more injuries on the defence; since linebacker Omar Gaither suffered a setback a while back, while two other linebackers Dan Connor and Jason Phillips are still recovering.
Panthers defence has been ravaged by injuries and lack of coordination amongst team mates has led to the defence leaking 79 points during the last two games with a second half collapse against Detroit Lions in game week 11 of the National Football League particularly painful.
Panthers were leading the first half by 27-14 and looked set to get an upset over Detroit but the second half saw the defence collapse completely and the Lions ran out 49-35 winners with Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford providing five touchdown passes during the game.
Coach Ron Rivera however is not blaming injuries for his team’s woes saying
“The situation that has to happen is we’ve got to find a way to not to worry about losing again and worry about winning again,” Rivera said. “I think that’s part of our problem — when something bad happens the wind goes right out of our sails.”
Charles Johnson joined the Panthers in 2007 as a third round draft. He has had a good all round season this year while his team has collapsed around him making 30 tackles and team highest seven sacks.
Panthers will next Sunday face Indianapolis Colts the one team in the league that is playing way worse than Panthers as they have failed to win a single game this season. The Colts game comes at a good time for Panthers as they have a great opportunity to get back to winning ways.
