Injuries in horse racing may put a full stop on horse’s career or they end up euthanatized

Horse racing is considered to be the most interesting sport, with a great sum of excitement, but this amusing sport comes along with many dangerous incidents.
Not only the jockeys, but the horses also undergo such accidents which require serious medical assistance. There are numerous of horses, who came across such accidents which are not curable and the poor animal ends up dying.
In 2006 the U.S Jockey Club which is situated in New York, educated a guess that about 600 horses died that year, from accidental injuries during a race.
The result of using drugs for the race is a big reason for numerous accidents, and by prohibiting the usage of drugs can decrease the injury rate, as well as the death rate.
Back in 2007 an American champion Barbaro fell down during his race in May’s Preakness Stakes and got injured. This injury not only brought an end to his career, but he had to lose his life.
Barbaro injuries created so many complications, which had no cure, the only solution was to kill him by the process of euthanizing.
His unexpected death made the horse racing industry to think seriously on the death rate, and the reason behind this loss.
Euthanizing is the best process considered for ending the life from pain and distress, this procedure is lead in accordance to some legal rules and regulation, the termination of life is done after taking permission from the owner and explain him the reason
and circumstances for this action.
In the year 2006, the death rate and injury was increasing massively, when the surveys were compared with rest of the racing sports, it gave astonished results.
Usually horses were given drugs, which helped them a lot in increasing their racing speed, but that affected the blood in the lung, which caused problems in breathing.
For past few years in the urge of winning the match, trainers used to give harmful drugs which were designed for humans, later on strict medical checkups helped in placing ban.
In United States of America the biotechnology firm Amgen deduced, that Epogen was the drug given to horses before their race. This dangerous drug helped in producing more red blood cells then the required limit, the production was at the bone marrow.
The production of red blood cells helps in breathing function because it helps in delivering oxygen, but its excessive production disturbs the whole process of breathing.
After this research, the horses are tested for this drug before their race, campaigns and meetings were held to discourage trainers and owners from usage of such drugs for the sake of victory.
While surveys and analyzing many medical specialists found out, that horses were also given snake venom which is basically the modified form of saliva, it’s produced from special species of snakes. This venom is used as painkillers for horses, which helps
to numb horse’s pain.
A racing horse is no doubt considered to be strong physically, but with time horse’s bones get weaker, the speed through which they urge to achieve the purse, creates a great sum of stress over their bodies.
The only solution to these injuries is to provide medical treatment as soon as possible, or else it will get worse with time. Horses whose career ends should be provided with adoption homes which are unluckily in very less amount.
