Injury Update: Danny Welbeck ruled out of action for 3 weeks
On loan, Sunderland Striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233 is expected to be out of first team action for the next three weeks, a source inside the club confirmed.
The striker suffered an unfortunate hamstring tear while playing for Sunderland against Aston Villa and the doctors have confirmed that the player would not be available for the remainder of January. Danny Welbeck’s injury would come as a huge blow for Sunderland, as the youngster has been sensational for the Black Cats this season. The player managed to score 6 times this season while giving one assist in his 21 appearances. Welbeck brings the much-needed burst of pace on the wings that confuses most oppositions and has adapted to Sunderland’s game.
On the other hand, Black Cats midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Meyler-c10556 was relieved to know that he had not ruptured his cruciate ligament. The player underwent scan this week, but the reports have come back negative and the midfielder would be back in action soon. The midfielder had to be stretchered off the pitch at Villa Park when he was screaming in pain and many suspected that he had yet again ruptured the ligament. Meyler had just returned from the injury, which kept him out of action for nearly seven months.
"The great news we got late last night is that Meyler has not ruptured the cruciate ligament. It's still intact - that's what the scans have told us, which is great news for us. He has still wrenched his knee horribly. We will know more in the next few hours in terms of time schedules, but he will be out for weeks," stated the Sunderland Boss.
Sunderland have prospered well under manager Steve Bruce, as the side is currently sixth in the Premier League. Bruce dreams of taking the Black Cats in the Champion’s League, but faces heavy competition from some of the toughest teams in the country. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are likely to fight for the third and fourth spot, but Sunderland have already managed some impressive performances this season. Nothing should be taken for granted, but the injury to Welbeck may damage the Black Cats position in the league.
