The English striker claimed that during his time on the treatment table, he was able to improve his stamina and finesse which was low during the start of the season.
Wayne Rooney’s horrific injury against Fulham was supposed to be a major problem for Manchester United in September. However, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 firing on all cylinders, the club didn’t miss their main match, but the player took the time to cover up his
fitness regime.
Rooney started the current campaign slowly and was hardly able to make an impact, which was down to the low fitness levels he has accumulated during the course of his summer break.
After his injury, he wasn’t able to take part in any football-related drills for some time, but still worked heavily in the gym in order to prepare for the grueling season that lies ahead.
The effort has clearly paid off, as the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 star looked rejuvenated whilst making his return in the Capital One Cup and has since then forged a strong partnership with Van Persie, which was clearly evident on the weekend.
Now the attacker has come out and revealed that his training during injury is the reason why he looks fitter and is more agile on the pitch, quite contrary to the start he made two months ago.
“When I came back in pre-season I wasn’t out of shape. I was probably not as fit as I could have been, whether that’s because I didn’t have the time to get the training in I don’t know. I got injured since but I have worked hard. To be honest it probably
helped me to get fit, getting injured. I feel good, I feel fit, I feel ready to go and play.”
He also added that performing at the highest level required a lot of practise and that he was glad after taking special time out for his fitness issues.
“It is physically demanding. You are involved in the game and it is obviously demanding, getting up and down. I enjoy it, if the manager wants me to play there on Friday I will be happy to do so."
