Injury forces Marino to withdraw from AT&T National
It has been a terrible season so far for Steve Marino. Injuries have forced him to withdraw from numerous tournaments this year. Also, his performance in the events he played was hampered by injuries as well.
Once again, there is bad news for Marino and his fans, a knee injury has forced him to withdraw from the upcoming AT&T National.
AT&T National is an invitational tournament that honours the military personnel and it also benefits the Tiger Woods foundation. AT&T National is all set to take place at the Congressional Golf and Country Club.
This will be the first time in his career that Marino has missed the AT&T National. He loves to play the tournament because he is also associated with the military.
Steve Marino’s father was in the US Air Force. Steve had started his career at one of the military golf courses in Fairfax.
He graduated from the W.T Woodson High School and then went to study on golf scholarship at the University of Virginia.
This year, the guy from Fairfax has only played six tournaments. However, in each of the six events that he played, he did not come up with a commendable performance.
Last year, in October, he had a meniscus surgery. Even after recovery, there were still some complications that hampered his game.
After January, he played in three tournaments, but then he found out that he was suffering from bone contusion and a vascular necrosis. This was a very serious issue, as it prevents blood flow to the areas which are injured.
Marino was then forced take around four months off. After that, he played some tournaments in pain but now it is a knee injury that has forced him to pull out of the AT&T National.
"Just having a hard time walking without a limp and having a hard time posting on my left side," Marino said. "It is just not acting right".
"It is pretty disappointing," Marino said. "But you gotta listen to your body".
Out of the six tournaments he played this year, he has managed to make the cut in only three and in the rest, he had poor finishes. However, it was not his fault that he could not put up a brilliant show.
