Injury forcing Anthony Kim to miss the rest of the PGA Tour season – Golf News
The three-time PGA Tour winner Anthony Kim has announced that he will be missing the rest of the PGA Tour season because of the wrist and elbow injuries.
According to the doctors, Kim has a tendinitis in his left arm, which may take five to six months to heal.
During that period, he will also undergo treatment and rehabilitation for the injuries in order to try for returning to practice late in the season.
It was a major blow for the American as he was already struggling to get back to form and the intense injuries have added pain to his miseries.
Throughout the current PGA Tour season, he has played a total of 10 events so far and made the cuts only two times.
Moreover, he withdrew from each of the last three events he played. The tournaments include Shell Houston Open, Valero Texas Open and Wells Fargo Championship.
In addition to that, he was also disqualified after the opening round of the Northern Trust Open for signing a wrong score on the par-four seventh hole during the opening round.
"I’m obviously disappointed because I’ve been fighting to get my game back on the right track and having an injury hold me back is frustrating,” Kim said in a statement.
“I’ve been through this process before, though, and know that you have to put in your work with treatments to get healthy,” he added. “That will be my focus for the next four or five months so I’m in a position to return healthy towards the end of the year
and be fully ready for 2013”.
The injury was reported during the Wells Fargo Championship when he hit the rock while trying to get out of the rough.
Thereafter, he announced his withdrawal from the tournament and contacted Dr. Thomas Graham of the Cleveland Clinic to examine the condition of the wrist.
Dr. Graham is the same person who reconstructed Kim’s thumb two years ago. That was the similar situation when he had to miss the whole season after the surgery.
Kim now plans to file a medical exemption in order to get the permission for playing the PGA Tour season in 2013.
