Injury hit Pat McCabe to undergo shoulder surgery before Super Rugby season
A shoulder injury is likely to spoil the upcoming season of Super Rugby for Pat McCabe as he will not be available for Brumbies for six month due to an injury to his shoulder.
McCabe told Sydney Morning Herald on October 26 that he needs surgery on his shoulder which will take six months to recover and he will miss a few opening games of the championship starting next year. The centre is sure to skip four rounds of forthcoming
Super Rugby and it may take more time than expectated.
He was the part of Australian side that met the All Blacks in the semi-final of Rugby World Cup 2011 and received the hit during that particular match. Earlier on, he had faced the same injury in the group matches but was recalled in the side by the team
management where he further worsened the issue.
Talking to the local newspaper on Thursday, McCabe said that the operation has become inevitable and he wants to get rid of the injury as soon as possible. He further said that, “It's obviously pretty frustrating but it's something I have to get right. I
have to look at it as an opportunity to improve my skills and physical attributes for when I can play again in March. This year has been long, and it has taken its toll physically and mentally so, hopefully, I'll come back fully recharged and ready to go for
the Brumbies.”
The 23-year-old outside centre also went on saying that, “This year has been long, and it has taken its toll physically and mentally so, hopefully, I'll come back fully recharged and ready to go for the Brumbies.”
McCabe made his Super Rugby debut in 2009 for ACT Brumbies and signed a full time contract with the Australian domestic side next year. He remained very impressive for the Brumbies and ultimately fixed his place in the national side as well. He was included
in Wallabies side in 2010 and so for he has played 5 international games. In his short Super Rugby career he has won the Australian Super 14 Rookie of the Year award.
