Injury report for the New England Patriots in the Playoffs – NFL News Update
New England Patriots could possibly be facing big issues in terms of the availability of players for the game against the Denver Broncos this Saturday with 13 players having been listed as questionable.
The most important player in this list appears to be safety, Patrick Chung.
Chung is suffering from a knee injury and is listed as questionable for the next game.
His name had been removed from the injury list on Thursday, but he missed practice the following day, along with being limited in practice on Friday, that led to him being questionable for the next game.
The 24-year-old has been suffering from injuries all along this season, making him miss seven games.
Earlier on in the season, he had sustained a foot injury that forced him to miss out, but he managed to make a comeback and played against the Buffalo Bills, which was the last game for Patriots before the playoffs.
Patrick Chung now has apparently developed a new problem with his knee, thus putting a question mark over his chances to play this weekend.
This is likely to hurt the Patriots who are getting ready to face the Broncos in the American Football Conference (AFC) divisional playoff game.
A lot of hype has been created over this game as Tom Brady and Tim Tebow get ready to face each other this weekend.
The Patriots' offensive line up could face a possible set back with two of its key linemen being listed as questionable.
Sebastian Vollmer with a foot injury, and Logan Mankins with a left knee injury, could miss out the game.
Mankins sprained his medial collateral ligament on Dec 24.
Both the players have gone on to miss games.
Vollmer has missed out the last five games while Mankins last played the Miami Dolphins after which he has been missing practice sessions.
"It felt good to move around a little bit out there. It's still day to day. We'll see. No word yet. One day at a time. We'll see what happens", Mankins said.
Meanwhile, the Patriots’ defensive end, Andre Carter, who was lost for the season with a torn quad muscle may be off the field, but will still be present in the stadium to encourage his teammates.
Carter had sustained the injury while playing against the Broncos which occurred amid a 41-23 victory, towards the end of the first quarter after he went on to tackle Broncos’ Lance Ball and was seen clutching his knee as he laid down on the ground and had
to be carted away.
The loss of Carter has come as a blow for the Patriots as he was their leading defensive player, with 10 sacks and 52 tackles to his credit this season.
The list of questionable players include, Tracy White, Brandon Spikes, safety James Ihedigbo, linebackers, Dane Fletcher and Rob Ninkovich, cornerback, Kyle Arrington, offensive linemen, Marcus Cannon and Dan Connolly, special teams' captain, Matthew Slater,
and Wes Welker.
