Injury rules out Melbourne Rebels’ Jarrod Saffy from next match – Super Rugby
A groin injury has ruled out Melbourne Rebels’ flanker Jarrod Saffy from their forthcoming clash against top Aussie side, Queensland Reds, on 6th May. The flanker sustained a groin injury during a practice session on Wednesday morning. The injury
has come out as severe blow to the Rebels because the flanker was one of the most consistent players of his side.
The final line-up is expected to be announced on Thursday and Hoani MacDonald maybe included in the side. The Rebels coach, Rod McQueen, announced today morning that Saffy will not be playing the next game due to the injury. He also revealed that Hilgendorf
was also doubtful to participate in the upcoming clash against the Reds. Earlier Hilgendorf was announced to replace Danny Cipriani, who was dropped for one match for attitude.
Melbourne Rebels fly-half, Danny Cipriani, was also ruled out of Super Rugby match against the Queensland Reds to be played Friday. Cipriani was axed due to a breach of club discipline by arriving late to his team’s hotel following their defeat to the Waratahs
on 30th April.
Earlier, he was charged with theft as he tried to steal a Vodka bottle from a local casino on February 18. He was clearly shown by CCTV cameras hiding a Vodka bottle in his trousers. The casino management didn’t report the matter to the police, instead they
informed the Melbourne Rebels officials about the incident.
Danny Cipriani, who also plays for England in international competitions, has also disappointed his national coach, Martin Johnson, partly because of his off-field activities. Danny has played for various European clubs but his contracts have been cut short
because of his activities.
Cipriani was spared after a warning for the theft charges and a cautionary statement was given to him threatening removal from the side if he breaches the disciplinary code again. However, the action did not work and he was found guilty again by coming late
to the hotel along with another team-mate, Richard Kingi.
The inexperienced Rebels will take on the Queensland Reds on Friday.
