Injury stricken Tyson g*y out of the game until 2012 – Athletics news
Tyson g*y, the 28-year-old track and field sprinter from America, who was the world champion for 100m and 200m back in 2007, has underwent arthroscopic surgery and will not be able to appear at any athletics tournament until 2012.
Before the hip injury, g*y was eyeing the Meeting Avera in Paris and the World Athletics Championships in Daegu.
g*y, who specialises in 100m and 200m runs and is known as the second fastest runner for a 100m meet, is the reigning world 100m bronze medal winner in a time of 9.69 seconds. He is also the third fastest athlete in the 200m contest for a clocked time of
19.58 seconds.
The formidable American athlete, due to the tremendous athletics potential he boasts of, has claimed numerous national and international events throughout his career. Just like his traditional competitor, Usain Bolt from Jamaica, he too has been a matchless
athlete in the 4x100m relay.
While appearing at the US Olympic Trials 2008, g*y bagged a US record in the 100m for covering the desired distance in 9.77 seconds. Moreover, for clocking an impressive 9.68 finish for the similar distance, he claimed second place on the table of the world’s
fastest athletes. However, in this competition, the formidable runner enjoyed significant help from a gushing wind of 4.1m per second.
After the recent operation, g*y, the third fastest finisher of the 200m distance (for stopping the clock in 19.58 seconds) is now completely focusing on recovering his health and appearing in the 2012 season.
Sharing details of his operation and the plans about making a comeback on the track, Mark Wetmore, g*y’s manager, said, “On Tuesday, Dr. Marc Philips from Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Colorado in the USA, performed an arthroscopic procedure to
address an impingement in Tyson’s right hip and to correct a labral tear that has been bothering him for some time.”
The manager stated that Dr. Philippon will look over Tyson’s recovery and rehabilitation, while it is believed that the strenuous runner will be physically fit when the 2012 season starts.
