Ink marks from pool table cloth?

During the installation of my Sardo rack I accidentally put permanent marker ink on my pool table cloth. How do I remove this without causing much damage to my napped cloth? I Heard hairspray works but idk.

I tend to agree with Brew City's answer.

I looked for the most logical and practical solution to your dilemma. I too, found that hairspray might work. However, billiard cloth is not cotton fabric. If you have a spare piece of billiard cloth handy ..... put a dab of permanent ink on it and let it set. Then try the hairspray 'remedy' and see what happens. I have also read that rubbing alcohol and baking soda may work (keyword: "may"). Personally, I wouldn't chance it, as this takes some major scrubbing, likely to damage and weaken the cloth.

Until you're ready to re-cover your table (as Brew City suggested), you could try to at least lighten the ink spots with a lighter shade of permanent ink to help alleviate the distracting spots ----though, lightening black ink may prove to be fruitless.

Good luck and keep on stroken 'em. Focus on your shots ---not the ink spots.

I'm not so sure I'd be willing to put hairspray on my table.  I'm assuming that you just made an accidental mark or 2, and it not like it will effect play or anything, just look out of place.  The darned thing about permanent marker is that it usually is permanent on cloth, so getting it off may do more bad then good on the table felt.  Sorry I can't give a better answer, but as far as I know, once its on, its on.  If the felt isn't that new, maybe you can just wait it out for a while until it needs replacing.  Good luck, and keep rackin em up!
