Question:

Inline Skates K2 Moto 90 Frame Upgrade for bigger wheels 100 or 110mm?

Hello,

After several hours online trying to find an inline skate to meet my needs I finally selected K2 Moto 90. These have 90mm wheels.

My question is: Can I take off the frame and mount a different frame to accomodate larger wheels? The 90mm wheels are the largest wheels that can fit on this frame. I would like to purchase another frame that will allow me to fit 100 or 110mm wheels.

I bought these skates because my foot size limited me to only a select few. They are great skates but I would like to go even faster with them. The boot is comfy and I like the look, and K2 skates are great quality. I want to keep the skate, but just upgrade the frame for larger wheels. I don't want to buy a custom set or another set of skates to do this.

Any suggestions out there? Anyone have the same problem? Please help me out.

Thank you

  1. Measure the spacing between the front and rear screws that hold the frame to the boot.  I expect it to be 6 1/2 inches which is the older standard for skate frames.  Many 100mm skate frames now use a longer spacing so that the front s***w doesn't align above the second wheel.

There are many shops that sell racing skate frames.  They aren't cheap.  One shop (owned by a racer in Minneapolis, MN) is Adam's Inline (www.adamsinline.com).
