  1. okay, for one thing its called artistic skating not figure skating. its a definite sport, just like figure skating is.

you CAN compete on inlines, but they are a special kind of inlines, called art blades. they usually have 3 wheels, although some brands have 4, and the wheels are rockered (on different levels) to make jumps easier. the boots are the same as figure skating boots, only more flexible, and with a few other small differences. art blades also have a toe stop.

however if you are just starting out, you can learn most basic elements on regular blades.

art blades are quite expensive, but you can sometimes find them cheaper secondhand, if you ask around at your local rink.

inline skaters do the same dances, routines, and every thing else as quad skaters, but they compete in separate events - but still at the same competitions.

all major competitions will have inline events, they are even included at worlds.

a photo of a pair of art blades canbe found here

  2. There is a book out called "How to Jump and Spin on In-Line Skates" . . . here's a link to take a peek at it - with the table of contents.

Anyway, this books says it is possible - to some degree of course.

  3. I don't think so... unless you remodeled them. They are designed very different to roller blades and it would be hard to do tricks on them.

  4. pic skates are alright, but you should talk to your coach first because if you also compete on the ice, they could damage your jumps :P

  5. ,yup! I've been playing  with pics for 4 years.I've started ice skating since ive come canada though ,a couple of months ago.anyway, what would u wanna know?i m gonnna explain it more tomorrow

  6. Check these out....

Same figure skate boots, but different frame and wheels to simulate a blade.  I think some skaters have gone to these when there is very limited ice time.  If you search online for them, there are a lot of testimonials.  I don't know of anyone who has used them though to tell you if they work or not.  :)
