My brother in law is in jail, we have been looking for him for 2 yrs. We got a message to him to call collect, only to find out my phone was blocked. I called phone company who said to call Correctional Billing Services to set up a prepaid calling account . I called and the cost is $50 minimum and found there are many complaints against this company for overcharges and ripoffs.

Anyone know of one that is a bit more understanding of family of inmates not being rich and have more reasonable calling plans?

  1. Usually, inmates can purchase calling cards in incraments of 20 or 30 dollars. That way you don't have to deal with the Correctional billing. Just make sure your brother-in-law has enough money in his account. Good luck....

  2. unfortunately it is no longer an option and that is actually having nothing to do with the phone companies its the correctional facilities, you might want to send complaints to them because they are the ones who decided to make that contract with Correctional billing services.
