Question:

Innapropriate for school?

My daughter got in trouble for wearing shorts that were "too short." I thought they were perfectly fine, and my daughter thinks I'm pretty strict with clothing. When I was picking her up, I saw another girl wearing a white see through shirt, and i could see her black bra from the front and back, and white short shorts that were also see through, and I could see her black thong. I asked my daughter if she also got in trouble, and my daughter told me that the girl didn't get in trouble at all. I didn't see this very fair. Should I say something to the school?

Note: My daughter is in 8th grade.

  1. They can't catch everyone who is breaking the rules in one day!  That is like having the police officers catch everyone on the freeway who was speeding during a certain time.  It is just one at a time.  I'm sure the school is fair.  Just don't have her wear those shorts to school.  She can wear them other places.

  2. I see your point, but I don't think pointing out everyone else's faults will get you anywhere.  I would go over the school's handbook and see what the rules are.  If your daughter broke them, then she has to suffer the consequences whether or not someone else broke the rules and didn't get in trouble.

  3. read the dress code for the school and discuss it with your daughter so that you both understand it.

  4. read your school dress code , most girls skirts cannot be higher than their finger tips when they stand up straight.

But then again many parents think Hanna Montana is the perfect roll model for their p*****n and teenage daughters and wonder why they dress like hoochies

  5. I think you should talk to your daughter about how you feel, than tell her you will do what she wants you to do. Maybe she doesnt want that girl to get in trouble or for you to get involved.

  6. a lot of times people get away with that kind of stuff. (im in highschool) the thing that really sucks is that its usually the good kids who get busted.. you could say something to the school but i highly doubt that it would do anything. i got dress code a couple of times for short shorts and low scoop neck tops but i still wear them and nothing serious has ever happened with that

  7. It may be that they are more strict on your daughter as she's probably mostly within the rules. Where as the other girl is never within the rules, so they've given up on her.

Unfair I know but that's the penalty you pay for being good
