Question:

Inner ear pain from swimming?

I went swimming in my pool the other day and now the inside of my right ear has been hurting. It's somewhat like a throbbing pain and very sharp at times. Sometimes I don't feel any pain at all. Is this normal, or should I get it checked out? Any ideas what's causing it? Thanks!

  1. u have swimmers ear. ouch. water is stuck in ur ear. u need medical attention

  2. go to rite aid and get earache drops, it works  trust me, you just have swimmers ear.

  3. just go to your local chemist and they will pain relief for your ear. its called swimmers ear

  4. You may have a little water trapped in the canal. Try draining your ear by lying on that side so the water may drain out and on to your pillow. As your lying down try yawning big to pop any air trapped that may be keeping the water from draining. You can mix equal part of White Vinegar and Alcohol and place a drop or two in your ear. But they do have products in the drug store for swimmers ear. Beware that you may be developing a ear infection being a day or two has gone by and you still have pain. Go talk to the Pharmacist. Don't use a q-tip it will only make it worst.. Good Luck

  5. use erplugs when you swim its probably the water

  6. It sounds like it could be an inner ear infection, also known as swimmers ear.  For some, they go away on their own, but for others (especially those who've had an extensive history with ear infections), the infection could get worse if left untreated.

I've had numerous ear infections, and I had a case of swimmers ear one time, that got so bad that I lost all movement on the right side of my face, and it hurt to open my jaw more than a couple centimeters.

If it doesn't get better within the next 24 hours, see your doctor about antibiotics and/or some kind of ear drops to break up the fluid.

Also, you can learn more about inner ear infections at http://www.webmd.com, and always be sure to wear earplugs when swimming!  I hope you get feeling better!
