Question:

Inner wrist tattoo questions?

Ok so I'm thinking about getting an inner wrist tattoo. I'm not sure and what i want it to be but i know its going to be a word like strength or inspiration or something along those lines. i want the tattoo to be readable to me but i want it to be readable to other people too. like say i choose to put strength, i want it to read strength when its facing me but i want it to be a design when its facing out ward when other people are looking at it. so that way when i put my arm out people see a design but if people come behind me and look at it from my angle they see the word strength. i don't know if this is making any sense at all...lol but I'm basically looking for some ideas. what type of font should i use if i want to accomplish this. does anyone have a similar tattoo that's readable to them as well as other people? also I'm not sure what type of design i want it to be when other people are looking at it so if anybody has any ideas about that too.

i hope this isn't too much to read and thanks in advance for your help

  1. I have a friend who's an avid ultimate frisbee player who uses this design concept for his team logo each year. it's so they can print it on a frisbee and it won't matter which direction the disk is caught: it reads the same.

you're going to have to design this one on your own. there's no font that automatically reads the same upside down, just sit down with a pencil and paper, and write the word right-side-up. flip the paper over, and write the word again, line up each letter with the one above it. look at the letters, and see if you can combine them into a shape that's legible from both directions.

it's really difficult, but very satisfying when you get it done. if you're struggling to come up with it yourself, have the artist at the tattoo parlor work with you on creating the design, they're always very talented. best of luck :)

  2. I would use Kanji (Chinese characters) black lettering

You definitely want it upside down when you look at it.

In other words if you're stand with your arms at your side you'd want it to be upside down for you to read it but if I was standing in front of you I'd be able to read it. Any professional tattoo artist will point you in the right direction. It's a general rule of thumb to get words tattooed so the people viewing it read it correctly. They tattoo artist will certainly be able to give you better advice tho.

I also advise on getting it somewhere other than your wrist. People have problems getting jobs with visible tattoos. I personally would put it on your ankle or your back somewhere. If you're a hardcore tattoo freak don't worry about placement, but if you're a first timer I strongly advise against such a visible location.

  3. You might want to think about how your going to get a job with a tatoo on your wrist.
