Innes Armstrong and Tom Bennett clinch 2012 GP14 Open Burwain Sailing Club
Weather conditions at the Burwain Sailing Club were light when 12 GP 14 boats launched their campaign on the waters to start the 2012 GP14 Open regatta. Due to the lighter breeze, the fleet had some trouble sailing on the race course bit still they managed
to make a superb regatta start.
Throughout the event, Innes Armstrong and Tom Bennett displayed impressive sailing skills on the waters and with seven points, as they were able to clinch the regatta title.
The pair participated in five races and grabbed two bullets and a couple of top finishes reaching the mile stone. As per rules, one race was discarded from the total points which formulated the final results.
The first race started under light winds and the fleet had to wait for some breeze. Armstrong and Bennett sailed sensibly in the first race and crossed the finish line on second position.
Second race was a piece of cake for them as they clinched the lead over the fleet from the beginning and maintained it until the end to hit a bullet. During the third race, the duo failed to improvise accordingly and tumbled down to fourth podium place.
However, this race was discarded from the final scores.
A third podium finish in the fourth race and another bullet in the last race brought them on top of the fleet and they claimed the regatta title.
