Question:

Input Component HDTV and output in DVI?

Long story short, I forgot to run a cable in the ceiling for my projector.

I only ran a 30 feet DVI-D cable in the ceiling.

Cable Box -> HAVA Platinum HD -> Computer

Computer -> DVI Cable -> Projector

Current setup is fine for my computer's media center and TV (TV is HD Cable through hava, a virtual networked tv-tuner card compatible with media center)

But I forgot about my xbox 360 and it's component outputs.

What would be the most efficient way to connect the xbox 360 to the projector without opening the ceiling and running a component cable.

I though about maybe inputting the component hdtv signal into the computer and outputting it in real time via dvi.

Is that possible?

Or using some kind of video switcher that has DVI/Component inputs and a DVI output.

Opinions please :)

  1. Get a DVI switch (two inputs one output) with built-in an audio switch.

Connect the xbox to the switch via HDMI to DVI cable.

Use appropriate audio cables to switch between PC and xbox as needed, unless both of them connect to an AV receiver.

  2. a dvi switch box would be the way to go.plus you will have extras if needed.
