Input needed for a business idea?

I live in Port Credit by the river and I have a commercial property. If you were going to a waterfront park for a day visit, aside from a restaurant or bar what type of store/service would catch your interest and make you want to buy something? Would it be canoe rentals, gift shop....just looking to get an idea of what would attract people. Thanks!

  1. I would suggest a gift shop also, but one that has eitheir local artist and/or if your gifted something that you created, homemade baked goods, specialties seem to do well, a markup is expected for homemade goodies (think of the flea markets, craft sales that are sold out, not many have the time or talent for such things that remind them of home). With a regular gift store there is alot of money tied up in inventory and usually seem overpriced. Local artist would be more then happy to give handsome commissions for the sale of their work

  2. Gift shop, for sure!

  3. gift shop, maybe a place to take photo's and sell them to the visitors, restaurant, picnic area, the canoe rentals sound great, information booth, maybe a booth to make local arts and crafts, or story telling for kids, good luck with your new business.

  4. River side property? Build small shacks  for people to hire for night stays. Thats a sure shot regular money income.

But build shacks and not villas, provide some basic needs, like coffee makers or  barbeque pits around.

  5. How about a laundromat - it's like a do it yourself laundry service...sometimes a good option if there are accommodation facilities in the area who don't offer laundry services.  In the laundromat, you have a certain number of coin operated washing machines and dryers.

Or, a coffee shoppe, like a mini restaurant, only that you offer light meals (eg.  toasted sandwiches, cakes, tea, coffee, latte's etc)

Or, rent a bike to ride around the waterfront, maybe not only bicycles, but tandems or a carriage type bike...(a healthy alternative to driving around...more fun than walking too)

Hope that helps Trace.  Good luck on your business venture.
